ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Monday that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) 100-days plan is a “non-starter”, adding the move is tantamount to pre-poll rigging.
Talking to media persons at the Parliament House, Shah said that PTI’s new plan was nothing but a political gimmick ahead of the general elections.
He also said, “I would quit politics the day PTI succeeds in implementing its plan.” He said that PTI was misguided to think that the people would easily believe such unrealistic claims. “All plans should be made by looking at ground realities first,” he added.
Terming the new plan as an attempt at pre-poll rigging by PTI, the opposition leader said, “A party could announce a 100-day plan only after winning an election.” He questioned whether PTI had won any national election to be able to make such an announcement.
He went on to say, “The credibility of the General Elections 2018 would be put at stake if PTI won the polls.”
Shah further said, “PTI chief Imran Khan had the chance to implement his agenda during their rule in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) but he missed a big chance. Khan talks about creating 10 million jobs in KP but he has not even been able to create 5,000 jobs during his tenure.”
He also rubbished all claims made by the PTI leaders regarding development work in the province and improving the standard of public sector schools.
Commenting on PTI’s alliance with political forces from South Punjab, the opposition leader said, “The dream of a new South Punjab province being presented by Khan is an eyewash.” He further added that with the exception of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), no other political party had pursued the matter seriously.
The PTI leadership on Sunday presented its 100-days agenda that would be implemented if the party wins the general elections. Per the agenda, the party has promised to bring changes to the governance system, enhancing economic growth and strengthening Pakistan’s national security. Most points of the agenda include promises regarding educational reforms, the creation of employment opportunities, and making basic rights accessible to the common man.
PTI’s agenda had been opposed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The N-league’s KP chief even held a press conference to call upon the people to judge the divide between the words and actions of the PTI chief from his 90-days agenda announced by him after winning the provincial elections in 2013.
