LAHORE: The Christian community celebrated Pentecost Sunday with religious fervour in Lahore and other areas and prayed for the development, peace and prosperity of the country.
Churches were decorated with seasonal fruits and vegetables to thank God for his blessings throughout the country. According to the Christian faith, the first Sunday after 50 days of Easter is celebrated as Pentecost.
The central ceremony was held at the Cathedral Church in Lahore, where Dean of Cathedral Church Priest Shahid Mairaj conducted the prayers. The priest dedicated this year’s festivities to the Supreme Court’s verdict, in which the chief justice ordered that the Christian community must be called and written as “Masihi” instead of “Essai”.
