SAHIWAL: Kalyana police have booked three unidentified persons and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Member of Punjab Assembly (MPA) Ihsanul Haq Bajwa in a hit-and-run case which caused the death of a woman on Friday.

The accident reportedly occurred near  Mete Bus Stop on Hota Road when the MPA’s vehicle, with the registration number AGX-169, collided with a motorcycle-rickshaw.

The injured were shifted to Pakpattan District Headquarters Hospital where Sayn succumbed to her injuries.

On the complaint of the deceased’s brother Zakir Hussain, police registered a case against the MPA and three unidentified persons under Sections 337-G, 427 and 320 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Police sources told Pakistan Today that Muhammad Ahad Naeem, the driver, was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident and fled the scene after the accident occurred.

Kaliana Police Station SHO [Station House Officer] Muhammad Imran said, “The MPA was not driving the car, his driver was but we have named both of them in the case.”

“We have impounded the MPA’s car as well,” added the SHO.

The case’s Investigating Officer (IO) Shahbaz Khan revealed to Pakistan Today, “Both parties have reached an agreement but the case is yet to be withdrawn.”

“The complainant has given an application pertaining to forgiveness for the MPA and his staff,” added the IO.

The MPA’s secretary told Pakistan Today that Bajwa was unavailable for comment as he was preparing for an upcoming rally of the ousted prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.
