NEPRA takes notice of widespread power breakdown

The National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC) has been directed to provide a detailed report to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) over the breakdown in power supply on May 16, 2018.

Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were left without power after a complete blackout in the north (Guddu – Peshawar).

On May 1, 2018, NTDC’s 22-kV transmission lines affected Chashma Nuclear Plant which caused an electricity generation loss of approximately 2,100 MW in the north. as well.

The two incidents prompted NEPRA to conduct a thorough review of NTDC’s performance and a detailed report over circumstances that led to the power supply breakdown has been summoned.
