Islamabad IGP Dr Sultam Azam Temuri received an anonymous letter titled ‘Justice for Eve’s Daughter’ several months ago, alleging that male colleagues in the police force were harassing female officers.
A new letter, titled ‘Justice for Adam’s Son’ makes reference to the earlier letter and states that “it takes two to tango” with policewomen encouraging men for favours, according to a police officer.
Separate rooms at Police Lines Headquarters are not available, said the new letter. Allegations in the Eve’s Daughter letter claimed that women had been harassed by their colleagues in said rooms.
Names of nine women and nine men were mentioned in the letter, alleging that they are involved in intimate relationships with each other. The author of the letter claimed that video and picture evidence was available to support this claim.
While no investigations on the latest letter have been launched, the IGP-ordered investigation over the previous letter has been completed.
A assistant sub-inspector with a poor reputation was identified in the investigation and has been suspended, in addition to the suspension of three other police officials.
IGP Temuri has said that there would be investigation into the latest letter as well.
