Court acquits 14 impersonators

An anti corruption court on Friday acquitted 14 people including Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Ali, Shoaib Sardar, Kashif Iqbal, Imran Shah, Sajawal Ashraf and Gulfam Rasool Khan, of a case of fraudulent withdrawal of money under various adjustments headed by officials of district police and patrolling police in the office of Punjab Accountant General.
A case was registered against Uzair Asghar on the application of Muhammad Khalid Farooq, Account Officer AG Office Punjab, that the accused showed himself as a sub-inspector of the police department while he was not and three payments totaling Rs 15 million were transferred to his account.
After his arrest, Asghar, during the investigation, nominated 13 people as accused, who with the help of Robinson Paul, Assistant Account Officer and Pay Roll Processing Officer, received money. Ghulam Rasool Khan, a constable, was shown as an assistant sub-inspector of the police department and Rs 0.5 million was transferred to his account.
