PESHAWAR: Despite the claims by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of prioritising the education sector in the province, the government has remained unable to counter a serious issue: every fourth girl in KP is out of school while twice as many girls than boys in the province are out of school, reported a local English newspaper.
The official record of the government, included in the KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department (K-PESED) out of school survey for 2016-17, revealed that as many as 1.18 million girls in KP are not in school.
The damning report by government’s own sources presents a grave indictment of incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of imposing an education emergency in the province. It also proved the claims of the former government of Awami National Party (ANP) wrong, who had claimed to spend billions for improving girls’ education.
