ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Saturday that it is the responsibility of the media to set a proper direction for the nation.
Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at Pakistan Television (PTV) Academy in Islamabad, the minister said she had made serious efforts to improve the affairs of the state-run television channel.
Appreciating the improved standards at PTV Academy, the information minister said that an academy played a very important role in sustaining any institution. She said that training, capacity building and skill development were the core features of any organisation.
Marriyum said that PTV Academy had introduced and groomed hidden talent and made them stars.
She also said that in the changing media landscape of Pakistan, PTV had to change its mindset and approach by keeping in view the challenging environment.
She further said that PTV could positively use its monopoly over terrestrial television to its advantage by improving content.
Meanwhile, Marriyum said that all state institutions should work within their ambit to take the country forward.
Addressing a ceremony after launching a new website of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the federal capital, she said the campaign of maligning politicians would serve no purpose and would hurt the democratic set up in Pakistan.
She also said that principles and values of politics also needed to be redefined for the progress of the country.
