Rain delayed the start of the second day’s play in the third Test between England and Sri Lanka here on Friday as bad weather again disrupted the Rose Bowl’s debut as a Test ground.
Play had been due to resume at 11.00am local time (1000GMT) but rain meant the square remained fully covered.
Sri Lanka were 81 for four, all their top-order dismissed despite only 38 overs out of a scheduled 90 being bowled on Thursday because of rain.
Thilan Samaraweera was 24 not out and Prasanna Jayawardene 10 not out.
England lead the series 1-0 after their innings and 14-run first Test win in Cardiff was followed by the drawn second Test at Lord’s.
