Five of a family killed in Peshawar hotel blast

PESHAWAR: At least five persons were killed and two injured due to a cylinder explosion inside a hotel on GT Road, Peshawar during the night between Thursday and Friday.

The family had come from Hangu to Peshawar for medical treatment and were staying at the hotel, according to police.

The deceased were identified as five-year-old Aasaish, 23-year-old Mehran, four-year-old Rukhmela, 52-year-old Najmina and 25-year-old Nargis.

The blast occurred in room number 408 on the fourth floor, according to police officials.

Remaining guests were evacuated by police officials and police because a fire had erupted after the blast.

A private bank’s branch, situated inside the hotel building, was also damaged.

The explosion was so severe that three people died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries in Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, according to police.
