LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s legislator in the Punjab Assembly, Hina Pervez Butt, demanded that the provincial government should allocate a quota for transgender persons in government jobs.

Butt made this demand via a resolution that she submitted to the assembly.

“We need to take measures to put an end to the notion spreading hatred against transgender people,” said butt.

The National Assembly had also passed Sikh Marriage Act, Hindu Marriage Act, Christian Marriage Act and a bill for the basic fundamental right of eunuchs, added the PML-N lawmaker.

She said all citizens have the same rights under Pakistan’s Constitution.

Butt also said that transgenders should be provided with a peaceful environment in educational institutions so that they can pursue their goals pertaining to education.

“Transgender people are part of society so they cannot be neglected at any cost,” she added.
