GUJRAT: The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) has launched issuance of fard (ownership document) at some 144 kiosks of National Database and Registration Authority in the Gujrat district.

This development aims to facilitate the general public along with reducing the workload at land record centres regarding the issuance of fards (only for record or non-transactional purpose).

However, the fards for transactional or sale purchase purpose can only be issued at three centres in as many tehsils of the district.

Earlier this year, PLRA had signed an agreement with Nadra, according to which some 3,700 E-Sahulat centres of Nadra would provide fard (for record) across Punjab by the end of current month.

In the first phase, E-Sahulat centres in nine districts namely Gujrat, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhang and Okara, have been made operational.

The provision of fard for record from 144 E-Sahulat centres of Gujrat would reduce 60 percentr cent load on three land record centres.

According to available data of April, farmers and landowners received some 985 fards for record from Gujrat city’s centre, 182 in Sara-i-Alamgir and 490 in Kharian.

The standard time for issuance of fard is 30 minutes but practically it takes extra time. A fard (for record) can now be obtained in just five minutes for just Rs250, which includes Rs150 for the ownership document with an additional Rs100 charged by Nadra.

PLRA spokesperson Faizan revealed that the department had been engaged in talks with private [scheduled] banks to launch such a facility as it had already established such booths in branches of Bank of Punjab.
