LAHORE: FAST- National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) Lahore Director Dr Amjad Hussain the other day instructed the students to refrain from celebrating ‘Daku Day’ and doing water fights, calling the activities as ‘uncivilised’. The screenshots of the email went viral on social media.

He warned the students of dire consequences in case anyone is found to be celebrating Daku Day or is found armed with a water pistol. Advising the faculty members, he said that such students should not be allowed to sit in class, vivas, lab, presentation and etc.

Those fearing shortage of marks were specially asked not to indulge in ‘unhealthy activities’ and do something better. It was further regretted that despite efforts made in the past to stop such activities, they have paved their way in the university.

A student from FAST Lahore, on the condition of anonymity, said, “There is a control culture in the university which does not let students indulge in such fun activities. The management is very strict as they expelled some students last year on violating such instructions.”
