MQM, PPP, ANP agree on activating town committees to maintain peace

Various committees at town level will be reactivated with immediate effect and more committees at grass root level will also be formed for playing an effective role in the improvement of law and order situation in their respective areas after any untoward situation.
It was decided at another round of meeting of the Karachi Coordination Committee, comprising representatives from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP), held at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday to review the overall law and order situation in the city. The meeting, attended by PPP’s Rashid Rabbani, Najmi Alam and Waqar Mehdi, Waseem Aftab and Hammad Siddiqui of the MQM and ANP’s Rana Gul Afridi and Bashir Jaan, expressed satisfaction over the improved law and order situation, largely due to the collective efforts of the three coalition parties.
Tributes were also paid to Sindh Governor Dr Ishartul Ebad, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and ANP-Sindh chief Shahi Syed on their efforts for restoring peaceful atmosphere in the city. It was decided at the meeting that all decisions adopted in the Governor’s House meeting will be ensured for implementation by the Karachi Coordination Committee, which will play its complete political role for the purpose.
The task for removing flags and wall-chalking of political parties will be started from Friday (today) in the Saddar Town, where all the members of Karachi Coordination Committee will also be present. Visits to affected areas by the representatives of three parties have largely assisted in the maintenance of peace, for which the credit goes to Sindh governor and chief minister. Such visits will continue and no one will be allowed to disturb the peace of city at any cost.
The joint meeting of coordination committees of Site Town, Orangi Town, Saddar Town, Gulshan Town and Shah Faisal Town will take place on Friday (today) evening at the Chief Minister’s House. Various departments and law enforcing agencies were asked to take prompt and effective action against criminals without any discrimination or without any consideration.
Fateha was also offered at the meeting for the departed souls of citizens were martyred during the recent killings, and also for late ANP leader Amin Khattak.
