LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded on Wednesday that an inquiry should be conducted into who was behind National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) announcement that the anti-graft bureau was going to probe alleged money-laundering to India by deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the World Bank (WB) denied the report which was the basis of NAB’s announcement pertaining to the probe against Nawaz’s alleged money-laundering.
The Punjab CM said that the inquiry announcement made by NAB has cast a bad light on the bureau.
Referring to a statement made by NAB’s chief that the bureau’s sun was shining on the entire country and not just Punjab, Shehbaz said that the sun’s light was blocked by cloud in provinces other than Punjab.
The incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president was speaking to the media after inquiring after the health of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal at Services hospital.
Shehbaz said that they have to find out the root cause of extremism in society.
“PTI chief Imran Khan and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari are two sides of the same coin,” he added.
