FIA refuses bargain with NICL chariman prior to arrest

LAHORE: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials have refused any bargain with Chairman National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) Ayyaz Khan Niaz prior to his arrest, Pakistan Today learnt on Monday.
Well placed FIA sources told Pakistan Today that lawyer of Ayyaz Khan Niazi has contacted the lawyer of FIA and offered them a settlement. Sources said that the lawyer of Ayyaz Khan Niazi requested FIA officials through their lawyer to stop raiding at different residences of Ayyaz Khan Niazi as the raids are creating harassment for his family.
The lawyer of Ayyaz Khan Niazi furthermore requested FIA officials that if they stopped raiding at different residences, Ayyaz Khan Niazi will present himself for investigations.
Sources said that during the direct bargaining FIA officials have completely refused to accept the plea of Ayyaz Khan Niazi and said that they will continue raiding the different hideouts of Ayyaz Khan Niazi. Sources said that Director FIA Punjab Zafar Qureshi wants immediate arrest of Ayyaz Khan Niazi and he was not in any mood to bargain with Ayyaz Khan Niazi prior to his arrest.
Ayyaz Khan Niaz, being a chairman of NICL, is considered as the main accused in NICL scam and since the arrests of former minister of State for Defense Habib Ullah Warraich, FIA officials have conducted several raids to arrest him but failed in doing.
A couple of weeks ago FIA officials conducted the first raid at the residence of Ayyaz Khan Niazi at his native town located in Khanewal District.
FIA officials seized his property there and requested the State Bank of Pakistan to seize all banks accounts of Ayyaz Khan Niazi. Only few days later after the first raid for the arrest of Ayyaz Khan Niazi, FIA officials conducted another raid at a guest house owned by NICL in Defence from where they captured 17 bottles of imported liquor and also arrested the watchmen of the guest house.
Only two days later, FIA officials traced another house of Ayyaz Khan Niaz located in Defense Housing Authority but failed to arrest him. On the same day FIA officials have conducted raid at another house of Ayyaz Khan Niazi in Defense Karachi as well.
FIA officials have seized the two houses. On other hand, FIA have arrested eleven nominated accused in NICL scam including Habib Ullah Warraich, his cousin Akram Warriach and nine office bearers of NICL. FIA officials have also managed in receiving Red Warrants for Interpol for the arrest of Habib Ullah Warraich’s son namely Mohsin Warriach.
