KARACHI: An alima (religious tutor) allegedly killed herself on Monday after murdering a girl student over the “refusal of marriage proposal of her brother” in North Nazimabad area of the city, as reported by a local media outlet.
According to the publication, the tutor, Nasreen Khalid, 24, visited the home of the 16-year old girl, Rabia, in Block-H of North Nazimabad for her Quran lessons, and shot the student dead before shooting herself.
Nasreen had earlier asked for Rabia’s hand in marriage for her brother, which was refused by the girl’s parents.
Three days ago, the girl was engaged with someone else, which allegedly infuriated Nasreen.
