KARACHI: In the latest string of legal notices, television actor and model Iqra Aziz has been served with a legal notice by the talent agency, Citrus Talent, for violating the terms of her contract.
In an Instagram story, CEO of Citrus Talent, Fahad Hussain, wrote that his lawyer has served a legal notice to Iqra Aziz “as she breached the Talent Exclusivity Agreement dated 14 June 2017 and bypassed Citrus Talent by locking an ad through Ms Maida Azmat of Mint PR and Image Consultancy.”
He elaborated that this was “done despite the fact that Iqra and Maida were repeatedly reminded about the contractual obligations of Iqra towards Citrus Talent.”
A legal notice has also been issued to Maida Azmat for “torturous interference and inducing Iqra Aziz to breach exclusivity contract.”
Hussain detailed on his interaction with the actor and work that she has done through his agency, along with expressing his disappointment in both Aziz and Azmat.
“Iqra was first introduced to me by the hair and makeup artist, Waqar Hussain, in November 2012 who she met at a shoot as an extra. Later she came and met with me and I took her on board and LONG before her career even picked up…she did her first project through Citrus Talent,” Fahad wrote of how he met Aziz.
The CEO added that he personally groomed the model and treated her like family and sometimes even made her payments in advance from his own pocket when she needed it.
According to the 8-page contract signed between the two parties, “Citrus Talent had the exclusive rights to represent Iqra Aziz for all engagement, bookings, etc. for television commercials and print shoots for products.”
It was also stated that Maida Azmat, who is the head of Mint PR and Image Consultancy was informed of the contract and its exclusivity. However, she paid no heed to this and went ahead with the project with Iqra.
Fahad deliberated that Citrus Talent has “been the leading talent agency of Pakistan for over a decade now and not even have I ever been betrayed like this by anyone, nor has anyone breached a contract.”
Meanwhile, neither Iqra nor Maida have responded or said anything regarding this legal notice.
Iqra has been part of several successful dramas, including Mol, Socha Na Tha, Choti Si Zindagi, Natak and Khamoshi, all of which have aired on Hum Tv. In his story, Fahad also said that he was the one who introduced Iqra to Hum Tv and asked a Mahesh there to give her a chance in dramas.
For her role in Mol (2015), Iqra even won the Hum Award for Best Television Sensation Female. She was also nominated for the Hum Award for Best Actress Popular for Choti Si Zindagi.
