LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Thursday while wrapping up Okara’s Hujra Shah Muqeem cleaning case formed a commission headed by the concerned session judge.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar conducted hearing over the suo motu notice.

“I have heard that the streets of Hujra Shah Muqeem have been cleaned up. What is the position of graveyard, have the encroachments been removed?” asked the CJP.

“The graveyard has been cleared of encroachments,” replied the lawyer of Punjab government.

The petitioner told that no sewage line has yet been laid in the street that was showed in the picture of a funeral procession.

The chief justice while wrapping up the suo moto notice directed the commission’s head to submit a review report of the matter in the court.

On March 20, the CJP took suo motu notice of a photograph circulating on social media showing a funeral procession passing over sewage in a narrow street.
