ICCBS, University of Murdoch ink accord

The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University (KU) and the Australia-based University of Murdoch have signed an agreement for collaborative research and training placement in the field of organic chemistry. The contract was signed between Prof John Edwards, on behalf of the School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, University of Murdoch and ICCBS Director Prof Dr Iqbal Chaudary, a KU official said on Wednesday. Both the institutions have agreed to enhance bilateral relations and develop academic exchange in the field of organic chemistry and also identify team members to work on joint research projects. Speaking on the occasion, Chaudary said the ICCBS, with a large network of collaborating centres around the world, is one of the finest academic establishments in the developing world and a large number of scientists are regularly visiting the ICCBS institutions for joint research and academic training. He also welcomed Egyptian national Ahmed Magdy Mustafa, a student of School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, University of Murdoch, at the institute. It is pertinent to mention that Mustafa, a research scientist, and presently studying in Australia was invited to conduct collaborative research and training placement in the field of organic chemistry starting from June this year for a period of eleven months under joint project of ICCBS and University of Murdoch.
