Speaking on a point of order in the Sindh Assembly, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Pir Mazharul Haq on Wednesday said that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s statement declaring Senator Babar Awan as ‘wajibul qatl’ [worthy of killing] was not only condemnable but also a matter of concern, as it poses a threat to the latter’s life. Expressing concern over Sanaullah’s statement, Haq said that the statement offers religious extremists a pretext for killing Awan, who is a former federal law minister. “The murder of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer at the hands of extremists was also made due to similar statements,” he said, demanded that the federal government takes serious notice of Sanaullah’s irresponsible statement.
