ISLAMABAD: Chairman All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf on Monday said that he earned money with his own hard work through legitimate means and whosoever would try a search for money trail, he would be disappointed.

He was addressing the APML Central Working Committee (CWC) at an Islamabad’s local hotel via video link in Dubai, and later he also held a press conference.

APML senior members from across the country took part in the meeting. In the meeting, matters including Musharraf’s return to Pakistan party decided about return of Musharraf to the country, selection of candidates for the general elections and party’s election campaign as well.

Musharraf also rejected allegations of handing over Pakistanis to the USA and said that no Pakistani was handed over by him. Anyone who may take away foreign country terrorists from our soil, we must not worry for them, he maintained. Even we appointed a Pakistani officer in Guantanamo Bay who prepared a report and said that there was no Pakistani there, Musharraf said.

He expressed that a positive change in the country is coming and he does not want the change to be impeded. Judiciary is working exceptionally well and that process must not put to halt, he said.

He said that he left the country one year after he resigned as the president of the country. Till then, I did not have any bank balance or property, and I earned money after I came out of country, he said.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is investigating my alleged assets beyond means, but the probe would meet a failure, he narrated.

During my tenure in government, I also worked for the rights of Pashtuns and told the Americans that empowering local Pashtuns would stabilise peace in the region, Musharraf claimed.

Musharraf said that he would announce his return to the country after deliberations after which the party would start the election campaign of my party.

Musharraf said that the government should take a strong notice of the movement being run against the state. India and Afghanistan are behind this movement, he said.

Talking about the ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Musharraf said that he has a phobia of me. Nawaz Sharif likes to play games but he killed at his own foot when he went to seek alms from the Saudi King. He appreciated Imran Khan’s public meeting in Lahore.

To provide a single platform to the APML members and facilitating them for exchange of information, he also introduced an official application of his party.
