Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has demanded of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to sack Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaulah from the provincial cabinet for being a man of a ‘fanatic mindset’.
SCBA made its demand in a meeting held under the chair of SCBA Secretary Qamarul Zaman Qureshi at the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court Bar on Wednesday. The meeting was called to discuss the situation in the wake of objectionable statement of Sanaullah against PPP leader Babar Awan, that, “Awan is liable to be killed (Wajb-ul-Qatl)”
The SCBA also urged Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) to cancel legal practicing license of Sanaullah immediately and initiate disciplinary proceedings against him for giving a ‘shameful’ statement.
The meeting had a consensus on the point that it was a ‘criminal act’ on the part of Sanaullah to give such a statement especially against someone like Awan, who was former federal law minister and senior PPP leader and also a senior lawyer.
The meeting noted that Sanaullah had violated the code of conduct laid down for members of the Punjab Assembly by using derogatory language against Awan. On June 10, Sanaullah criticized Awan and Punjab Governor Khosa, calling them ‘black sheep in black coats’. Sana claimed that Awan and Khosa were considered ‘obnoxious characters’ within the lawyers community and they should be ‘eliminated’.
