KARACHI: Local police on Sunday arrested five suspects belonging to a banned militant organisation including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) regional head from Pak Colony area of the metropolis.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Muneer Ahmed, is said to be part of the TTP and reportedly he has led its Sohrab Goth group in the past.
The suspect used to collect extortion money which he kept in his shop in the area, police said.
The accused said that a Quetta-based TTP leader, Qari Usman, used to store explosives and hand grenades at his perfume shop in 2012. According to the police, the weapons and explosives were handed over to Naseebullah and Khan Zaman – who were also arrested on Saturday.
Furthermore, two street criminals were arrested late Saturday night from Mewa Shah graveyard and Pak Colony locales, law enforcement agencies (LEAs) said.
