MOSCOW: After holding high-level inter-Ministerial talks with Secretary of the Russian Federation Mr. Nikolai Patrushev in Moscow, National Security Adviser, Pakistan Lt. Gen (R) Nasser Khan Janjua reached Sochi to attend IX International Meeting of High-Level Officials Responsible for Security Matters held on 24-26 April 2018.
During his speech on “Flashpoints of International instability: from conflict to dialogue”, the National Security Adviser highlighted that the strategic security paradigm of the world is evolving and undergoing a fast shift. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to find solutions to the conflicts through dialogue and in line with the UN resolutions.
Highlighting the flashpoints, he questioned the forum that can anyone work out the price Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Yemen have paid and continue to pay for the war inflicted upon them. He categorically pointed out “whether someone can see what is happening to innocent Kashmiris, Palestinians and Rohingya Muslims and whether someone can hear the cries of Kashmiris or are they just falling on the numb and dumb conscience of the world”. The world of today is locked in a cycle of escalation and provocation and is only subservient to its self-interests, he added.
Elaborating upon Pakistan’s contributions to ensure global peace and security, he counted upon the successes achieved by Pakistan, its Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies and people. He also highlighted the sacrifices made by the country.
NSA reiterated that Pakistan continues to follow a policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and refrains from fighting others’ wars and is purely focused on the economic revival and social development. Pakistan also pursues a policy of friendly neighborhood and believes in the resolution of disputes through dialogue and UN resolutions.
On the sidelines of the event, National Security Adviser of Pakistan held bilateral meetings with National Security Adviser of Afghanistan Mr. Hanif Atmar; Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Mr. Guo Shengkun; National Security Adviser of Egypt Ms. Faiza Abou el-Naga; Secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mr. Ali Shamkhani and Secretary of Security Council of Kazakhstan Mr. Nurlan Yermekbayev.
