Upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Infinity War could bid farewell to some of the Marvel Universe heroes. With contracts coming to an end, Infinity War and Avengers 4 could be the last time spectators get to see some of their most favorite stars.

While Marvel has never had any trouble getting rid of villains, it’s completely different with heroes. Except for Quicksilver who died in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

However, Infinity War will be different when it comes to the resurrection of characters. Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige confirmed that whoever dies in this film, will remain dead. He added, “People need to be careful what they wish for.”

Here is a list of five Avengers characters that might ride into the sunset or meet a permanent death.

Iron Man aka Tony Stark

The highest paid actor of the franchise, Robert Downey Jr might be launching a new franchise with Doctor Doolittle that opens next year. As one of the main player, Iron Man’s exit from the Marvel Universe seems inevitable. However, as the character has evolved over the last 10 years, Iron Man dying in yet another sacrifice would make complete sense.

Film critic Yolanda Mercado believes that if Stark does not die, he might just pass his baton to Black Panther’s Shuri or Peter Parker from Spiderman. Mercado said, “He’ll probably be presumed dead, and will take it as his chance to move on and create a good life with Pepper Potts.”

Captain America aka Steve Rogers

Unlike Downey, Chris Evans who essays Captain America has revealed that he plans to retire after Avengers 4. If his death comes sooner, it could benefit Infinity War from an emotional perspective. Moreover, Rogers is from another time. All his friends, except Sebastian Stan aka Bucky, have died including his true love, Peggy Carter. Evans has managed to bring the Captain to a level of prominence that would have been unthinkable in the early years, which is why the possibility of his death adds real dramatic weight.

Nebula

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos wasn’t happy when his adoptive daughter, Gamora betrayed him. So he asked his other daughter, Nebula to assist in killing Gamora. However, after realizing that Thanos only cares about power, she joins the Guardians in hopes of getting revenge.

As a child, Nebula was punished for losing fights with Gamora. Thanos would replace her body parts with robotic ones, so Nebula has plenty of reason to defeat Thanos. Reports suggest that Nebula is likely to sacrifice herself for the good of others. Moreover, Nebula was originally going to die in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Vision

Being a newcomer to the franchise, actor Paul Bettany makes his debut in Age of Ultron. Thanks to Stark and Thor, Vision possesses mind stone – one of the infinity stones that Thanos is looking for.

Vision cannot survive without the mind stone so the Avengers will try their best to keep him alive and away from Thanos. However, judging from the trailer, it looks like they won’t be successful.

Loki

Wielder of the Tesseract, Loki played by Tom Hiddleston, tried to rule over the nine realms in the first Avengers. It’s no secret that Loki, who is also known as the God of mischief, earlier worked with Thanos. However, Thanos must be angry with Loki as he kept the space stone for himself that Thanos had asked him to find.

While Loki was one of the first villains, he has now evolved into more of an antihero. He was an ally to Thor in Thor: Ragnarok but how long can the God of mischief be good for?

In one of the Infinity War trailer, Loki is seen handing the space stone to someone. If he gives it to Thanos, it’s likely that death will follow him soon. In an earlier interview, Hiddleston revealed that he was shocked that Loki, being a villain, has survived in the Marvel Universe for so long. But could he run out of luck in Infinity War? We’ll only find out on April 27!
