SDWA conducts oath-taking ceremony

The Punjab Civil Secretariat Staff-Car Drivers Welfare Association (SDWA) conducted an oath-taking ceremony in the committee room of the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.
Provincial Finance Minister Kamran Michael, Prisons Minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, Information, Culture and Youth Affairs Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and General (r) Ziauddin Butt were the chief guests on the occasion.
Wani and Butt administered theoath to the newly elected office-bearers of the association.
Addressing the occasion, the finance minister, prisons minister and the information secretary assured the association office bearers of the solution of their problems regarding service structure. They said drivers played an important role in performance of official responsibilities and the government was fully aware of their hardships.
They said the price-hike had created a number of problems for junior government servants, however, the Punjab government had taken various measures in the new budget to provide relief to grade 1-15 employees and their conveyance allowance had also been increased.
SDWA President Ghulam Mustafa, in his speech, put forth the demands of the drivers including reform in the service structure, overtime allowance, house purchase allowance, assembly session allowance, washing allowance and others.
