NAB to conduct complaint verification against Sindh Assembly speaker, secretary

ISLAMABAD: Justice (r) Javed Iqbal directed that complaint verification be conducted against Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Khan Durrani and Sindh Assembly Secretary Ghulam Muhammad Umer Farooq for their alleged involvement in illegal appointments and corruption in the construction of Sindh Assembly’s new building.

The NAB Karachi DG was directed to verify another complaint against Durrani for possessing assets beyond his known source of income.

The NAB chairman directed that complaint verification be conducted against federal railways minister and others for their alleged lavish expenditures on purchasing 4500 horsepower locomotives, track maintenance machines and leasing out of precious railways land in Lahore to favourites on throwaway prices that too in violation of the rules.

NAB had filed a reference against former land utilisation secretary and Sindh Revenue Board member Shah Zar Shamon in a case of alleged illegal allotment of 530 acres of land. The legal proceedings of the reference are in process as per law in an accountability court. The NAB chairman has sought report of latest progress on one investigation and four inquiries being conducted against Shamon. NAB has also decided to bring Shamon back to the country by writing a letter to Interpol.

NAB has also filed a reference against former Sindh Building Control Authority director general Manzoor Qadir. Legal proceedings of the reference are in process. The NAB chairman has sought report of the latest progress on the two inquiries and two investigations conducted against Qadir. NAB will write a letter to Interpol to bring back Qadir as well.
