Madonna has been given a big movie boost – her directorial debut has a distributor. Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his Weinstein Company have acquired U.S. distribution rights to ‘W.E.’, a film which Madonna co-wrote.

The movie, which was shot in London last year, chronicles King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson’s historic romance. The romantic drama spans 60 years, and juxtaposes a contemporary love story between a married woman and a Russian security guard with that of King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

The movie stars Abbie Cornish (‘Limitless’), Oscar Isaac (‘Drive’), James D’Arcy (‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’), Andrea Riseborough (‘Never Let Me Go’), Natalie Dormer (‘The Tudors’), Richard Coyle (‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’), James Fox (‘Sherlock Holmes’) and Lawrence Fox (‘Inspector Lewis’).
