KARACHI: A local court in Karachi remanded two suspects, involved in the rape and murder of the minor Rabia case in Manghopir, into police custody on Wednesday.
Judicial Magistrate West remanded the suspects, identified as Raheem and Fazal, into police custody till April 25.
The investigation officer told the court that the six-year-old girl’s dead body was found in bushes near Northern Bypass on Tuesday. “The girl went missing on Monday afternoon and girl’s grandfather had registered a case against three suspects for their involvement in the case,” he said.
On Tuesday, one person was killed while several others injured after protesters clashed with police after the incident. The family members of the minor along with the area residents staged a protest, completely blocking the road leading to Kati Pahari.
The post-mortem report of the minor, conducted at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, proved that she was sexually assaulted before being tortured to death.

Talking to media, Rabia’s parents said that the murderer(s) should be taken to task. “Two of my daughters went to the shop but only one returned,” said the mother. “I want justice for my daughter.”
Meanwhile, Rabia’s sister, Ayesha said that killers deserve the same fate as her sister’s.
Rabia’s father told media that he was going to bury her daughter but the area residents convinced him to stage the protest at Kati Pahari.
“I wanted to end the protest as the body was deteriorating in the heat,” he added.
He further shared that suspects arrested by the police after protest also includes Rabia’s maternal uncle Raheem Buksh.
INQUIRY COMMITTEE TO PROBE CASE: SIYAL
Interior Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, who visited girl’s home earlier in the day, stated that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the death of the protestor at Kati Pahari.
He further said that minor’s grandfather told him that he had filed the FIR, adding that “there was no point of protest after the case had been registered.”
The Rabia’s family is yet to give the name of an unidentified person, he said. The provincial interior minister further said that some people tried to make the incident political.
