LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz flew to London on Wednesday to meet ailing Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing cancer treatment in London’s hospital.
Maryam Nawaz tweeted: “Off to London to see Ami. If exemption not granted, will return before next hearing Insha’Allah. Pls, remember her in your special prayers.”

Kulsoom was not feeling well as her health deteriorated following intensive chemotherapy sessions. Both Nawaz Sharif and Maryam may request the Accountability Court for exemption from hearing on Friday.
In case the exemption is not granted, they would return by Friday to attend the hearing. A few weeks back, the National Accountability Court (NAB) approached the federal government to put the name of the former prime minister on ECL following his pending trial ordered by the Supreme Court in the Panama case.
On Tuesday, Maryam in a tweet said that her mother was hospitalised again and has asked well-wishers to pray for her health. In January, Kulsoom successfully went through her fifth chemotherapy session in London where she is undergoing treatment for cancer for the last one year.
A few months ago, the ailing PML-N leader underwent a surgery to remove lymph nodes. Despite being away from the country, she won the by-election for the NA-120 Lahore after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification from public office in the Panama case. She has not yet taken oath as the member of the National Assembly.
