KARACHI: Preparations for the 17th edition of Sindh Games has nearly been completed as athletes from different cities of the province gear up to showcase their talent,
The games begin on April 19 at 15 different venues of the city.
Members of the organising committee of Sindh Games reviewed the preparations at different venues where the games will take place and were satisfied with the progress.
Contingents from Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Benazirabad are expected to reach Karachi on Wednesday.
Female athletes will stay at a hotel in Sadar and at the National Coaching Center (NCC) while male athletes will stay at hotels near Lyari, Cantt Station, Youth Hostel, Scouts Hostel and at the Islahuddin Hockey Academy.
The organisers have provided kits, tracksuits and shoes for to all athletes to their respective division coordinators.
The opening ceremony of the Sindh Games will be held on April 19 at National Coaching Center. Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Different athletes will participate in torch relay ceremony, which will begin one hour prior to the opening ceremony from Quaid’s Mausoleum and would reach National Coaching Center just before the opening ceremony.
The closing ceremony will also be held at National Coaching Center on April 22 and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Provincial Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Doctor Niaz Abbasi has invited all citizens to come and watch Sindh Games at all venues especially during the opening and closing ceremony to encourage sportspersons of the province.
