ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) disgruntled leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday categorically rejected rumours that he is seeking a ticket from the party to contest the General Elections 2018.
Responding to Maryam Nawaz’s statement on Saturday, Nisar said, “Who asked for a ticket? Statements pertaining to awarding a ticket to me are being issued every now and then. But has someone really been pleading for a ticket?”
“I have never asked for a ticket in the past and will never do so in the future,” he asserted.
“It seems from Maryam Nawaz’s statements that the biggest issue being faced by the country at present is the matter of issuing a PML-N ticket to me,” Nisar said tauntingly.
Earlier on Friday, Chaudhry Nisar held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore which continued for at least two hours.
During the meeting, Nisar and Shehbaz discussed issues pertaining to the party. Sources said that the two leaders also exchanged views over the disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for life and matters related to the Karachi visit.
Speculation was rife earlier this week that the senior disgruntled PML-N leader would join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), however, later he categorically denied the news and said it was nothing but a rumour.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nabil Gabol had earlier claimed that Nisar met with PTI Chairman Imran Khan recently. However, the news was denied by Nisar’s spokesman.
