LAHORE: At least one person was injured in result of a brawl outside sessions court on Thursday in the provincial capital.
Reportedly, the defendant attacked the petitioner with a brick after appearing before a judge in a murder case. The police, consequently, arrested both parties.
Earlier this year in February, two lawyers were shot dead after an assailant opened fire inside a Lahore sessions court.
According to police reports the deceased was identified as Rana Nadeem and Rana Owais who were killed by another lawyer Kashif Rajput, due to a property dispute.
The incident took place outside the courtroom of Judge Taseerur Rehman.
A police officer said the deceased lawyers and their suspected killer were relatives. They engaged in a quarrel outside a courtroom before the latter lost his tamper and opened fire at the victims, he added.
A heavy contingent of police reached the court premises when the incident took place and cordoned off the area. Security was tightened and a search operation conducted in court, with both entry and exit points closed off.
The suspect was later arrested.
In January, at least two people, including a policeman and an accused, were shot dead outside the sessions court in Lahore.
The incident occurred when they tried to capture the fleeing accused from near the court.
