KARACHI: Sindh Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution which “expressed the hope” that Supreme Court will take suo moto notice of “man-made disaster” which the southernmost areas of Sindh were facing because of the absence of outflows from the Indus River at sea, reported a local English newspaper.

The opposition leader mentioned that this is the first time that the provincial assembly is requesting the apex court to take suo moto notice instead of reaching to the federal government or other forums for discussion.

The resolution was presented by the senior minister for food and parliamentary affairs, Nisar Khuhro, on the opening day what is likely to be second last session of the provincial assembly’s five-year mandate which started after a 50-minute delay with Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in the chair.
