LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz group (PML-N) has issued a four-page dossier to disprove Nawaz Sharif’s 10 year exile agreement and a claimed ban on his political activities.
Nawaz Sharif has not been banned from politics and those claiming this were only issuing empty statements, the dossier issued on Saturday, said, adding that the apex court had already handed down its judgment and the exile agreement negated Sharif’s basic human rights and hence held no legal ground.
Sharif had chosen to stay away from politics after being threatened by Musharraf on October 12, 1999, it said. “The proofs of his involvement are the holding of All Parties Conferences in London during forced exile and his latest letter to Zardari,” the dossier stated.
Nawaz Sharif had also submitted his nomination paper to contest general elections and had addressed 37 election meetings and had given 18 interviews to national and international channels and had inked the “Bhurban Accord” on March 3, 2008.
He had also signed the Charter of Democracy with Benazir Bhutto, Pervaiz Rashid said while explaining the dossier, adding that Sharif’s 153 addresses to people were a proof enough of his political involvement.
“He held 33 press conferences, 70 local and international media interviews, 37 meeting with foreign delegations, went for a visit to China,59 party parliamentary meetings and the long march on June 15, 2008,” he said.
