ISLAMABAD/MIRANSHAH: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced to organise a ‘talent hunt programme’ at the picturesque Younis Khan Cricket Ground in Miranshah, headquarter of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) on Sunday.

The talent hunt programme team in collaboration with the Pakistan Army is conducting this programme to provide an opportunity to the tribal youths to showcase their talent and get a chance to represent Pakistan at national and international level.

The selection team comprised Mushtaq Ahmed, head coach National Cricket Academy (NCA), and National Cricket team Leg Spinners Yasir Shah, Shadab Khan along with NCA General Manager Ali Zia.

The team will conduct trials of region’s young players and the selected players would be made part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) skill development camp to be organised under the auspices of the academy.

Mushtaq Ahmed said that the talent hunt trial is being organised in Waziristan for the first time under the auspices of PCB is a good omen.

Yasir Shah said it is good that peace has been restored in the trouble-hit areas and now the youths of the Waziristan would be seen in action in cricket which will lead them to represent Pakistan cricket team one day.

Pakistan Army provided all support including security for the purpose.

It is pertinent to mention here that a special cricket match between Pakistan XI and UK Media XI was played at NWA back September 21, which speaks volume that peace returned to restive areas.

Prominent players, including Inzamam ul Haq, Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal, Junaid Khan, Umer Gul, Mushtaq Ahmed, Riaz Afridi and Wajhatullah Wasti, participated in the match.

On the other hand, the UK team was part of an 18-member group of journalists, lawyers, businessmen and academics who were touring Pakistan with the aim to improve the country’s image as a sporting nation. Pakistan XI has defeated UK Media XI in Peace Cup 2017 match by 133 runs.
