Gen Bajwa, UK army chief visit Balochistan

British Army’s Chief of General Staff (CGS) Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter on Friday paid a visit to Balochistan’s Girdi Jungle and Brabchah areas as part of his official visit to Pakistan, Inter-Services Publications Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

On the first day of his two-day visit, General Carter met army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues pertaining to bilateral importance as well as the security situation of the region. COAS Bajwa and Gen Carter then visited Balochistan’s Girdi Jungle, a town recently cleared of ‘terrorist groups’.

During their visit, the two generals received a detailed briefing on the security operations carried in relation to the Khushal Balochistan programme.

The British high commissioner, defence attaché in Pakistan and Pakistan’s commander southern command were also present during this tour.

General Carter acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and recent Pak-Afghan border fencing for improved border control.

The visiting dignitary also welcomed the ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ fatwa and was briefed about the need for collective action to help encourage peace and stability in the region.
