BISHKEK: The number of victims of mass poisoning in a restaurant in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, has reached 173, the press service of the country’s Ministry of Health reported Monday. |
According to data released by the Ministry of Health, 150 people from Bishkek and 23 in other regions of the republic applied to the Republican Infectious Disease Hospital for medical treatment after a wedding at the Ala-Too restaurant with signs of food poisoning. Of the 150 people, 100 were hospitalized, including 19 children.
“The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Center conducted an unscheduled inspection at the Ala-Too restaurant with a survey of the restaurant’s attendants and the sampling of food products,” said the report.
“The results of laboratory studies indicating the cause of mass poisoning will be known within three days. According to preliminary data, the first suspicion of specialists was caused by a fried chicken,” the report added.
The law enforcement agencies of the country has opened a criminal case into the mass poisoning. The Ala-Too restaurant has been closed.
