Minister inaugurates govt’s school enrollment campaign 2018

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad on Monday formally launched the provincial government’s “School Enrollment Campaign 2018” during a ceremony held at Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED).

Schools Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik, Special Secretary Rana Hassan Akhtar, chief executive officers of District Education Authorities as well as teacher and academicians among others largely attended the ceremony.

Addressing the meeting, the minister said that media and other stakeholders should come forward to make the campaign a success. He reiterated the performance of the Punjab government in schools education sector and said that the government’s reforms had helped to improve the quality of public sector schools in different ways.

He said that a historic educational budget would be presented by the Punjab government this year, and asked the parents to make education the top priority for their kids. He also said that around 500,000 girls were enrolled in schools in 16 southern districts through the Khadim-e-Punjab Cards.

“These girls are being given stipends as well,” he added.

Rana Mashhood said that other provinces were following Punjab’s model and had also appreciated the province’s digital monitoring system. “In fact, Punjab is the only province which has been sending outstanding students from across the country to study at the best universities of the world,” he concluded.

Earlier, Schools Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik presented the welcome address and highlighted different features of the Schools Education Department’s performance.
