Shehbaz tells NAB to appreciate good work as well

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was a constitutional institution and it had the right to investigate corruption. He said that he respected and cherished the rule of law but NAB should also fulfill its responsibility by appreciating the good work in the country.

He said that good officers should be praised for their work but corruption should be taken into account sternly. Responding to a question, he said that Punjab government had taken exemplary measures in the health sector. Several new hospitals had been made to provide latest treatment facilities to the community and patients with liver diseases no longer had to go abroad for treatment because they would be treated free of cost at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute., he added.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a CT scan centre and hepatitis filter clinic at District Headquarters Hospital in Sheikhupura where he expressed delight over the installation of the latest CT scan machine and also examined various parts of the hepatitis filter clinic. The chief minister was informed that about 80 patients visited the clinic daily and were provided with medicines and free treatment. Primary and Secondary Health Care Secretary Ali Jan briefed the chief minister about the CT scan centre and hepatitis filter clinic.

He said that for the first time in Pakistan’s history, high-quality medicines were being provided to the patients in public hospitals. The common man was receiving the same medicines that were used by the governor, chief minister and other high-ups, he added. The chief minister said that they had been able to supply high-quality medicines to the hospitals by working hard day and night.

He further said that Punjab government was installing the latest CT scan machines in all districts of the province where patients would be able to avail the CT scan facility free of charge. He also said that Punjab government had brought revolution in the health sector and healthcare facilities were being provided to people at their doorsteps.

Shehbaz also expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of laborers due to an accident in a mine at Tallah Jogiyaan in Jehlum. He sought report from Rawalpindi division commissioner and ordered an investigation into the incident.

‘WEST INDIES CRICKET TEAM’S ARRIVAL IN PAKISTAN PROOF OF PEACEFUL SITUATION’:

Shehbaz said that the arrival of the West Indies cricket team in Pakistan had unbolted the doors of international cricket in Pakistan and hoped that the teams of other countries would also visit Pakistan. He also said that the successful arrangement of the matches of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore and Karachi had smoothened the way of international cricket in Pakistan.

He further said that the people of Pakistan loved cricket and the arrival of the West Indies cricket team in Pakistan was a proof of the favourable condition for international cricket in Pakistan.
