- Imran says no country can progress when its PM is involved in money laundering
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday announced that his party will form an anti-Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) alliance in Sindh, where the latter has a strong electoral backing.
Addressing the membership campaign of his party in Lahore, Imran continued the criticism of his political rivals and said that a country can never progress when its prime minister is involved in money laundering. He promised that he would get the Sharif family’s funds abroad back to the country if his party forms the government in the federation in the upcoming elections.
“Your captain will bowl out the wickets of all corrupt leaders in 2018’s elections,” Imran told his party workers, adding that his team will defeat Nawaz, Shehbaz, and Fazlur Rehman.
The PTI chief further said that the green passport holds no respect in the world.
Responding to the recent criticism of political rival Nawaz Sharif, Imran said that the development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was on the ground and not only in advertisements. He lashed out at the ruling party and said that unlike Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) development campaigns only seen in advertisements, his party’s efforts were visible on the ground in KP.
Taking a jibe at the Sharif brothers, Imran said that Nawaz and Shehbaz were not politicians but a mafia who had been using the police for 30 years. Referring to Shehbaz Sharif, Imran said, “Chota [younger] don is the biggest drama.”
“He sometimes wears hats and during the rain wears boots,” he added.
Meanwhile, the police on Sunday ensured fool-proof security arrangements for PTI membership drive in various parts of the city.
According to the security plan, about 3,000 policemen were performing the duty to provide security cover to the PTI campaign, spokesman for the police said here. He said that all SPs, DSPs and SHOs have been directed for making security arrangements by visiting PTI’s campaign points.

He said that strict checking is being ensured through walkthrough gates and metal detectors, whereas the Cantt police also conducted a search operation and checked individuals’ identification through biometric and latest android cell-phone systems.
Furthermore, the City Traffic Police have also put in place special measures to maintain traffic flow on all important thoroughfares during PTI’s drive.
