RAWALPINDI: A fire on Friday erupted in spare parts and oil warehouse in Rawalpindi’s Westridge area.
Cantonment board’s fire brigade and rescue teams spent more than two hours to put out the intense fire.
Nearby houses and buildings were quickly evacuated and electricity supply quickly disconnected to ensure safety. The warehouse was constructed illegally in a residential area and housed black oil and vehicle spare parts smuggled from Afghanistan, said a source.
Financial loss from the fire is reported to be in millions though the cause of the fire is currently uncertain.
