SIALKOT: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Sunday that those calling for “accountability” and “judicial martial law” should wait for the next general elections which will decide as to which political party enjoyed the support of the masses.
Addressing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers convention here, the foreign minister said that Sharifs enjoyed the support of a majority of the population, therefore, it deserved to rule Pakistan.
He said the PML-N-led government would continue its journey towards introducing reforms in the social, economic and human development sectors and would not leave any stone unturned in this connection.
The minister further said that those raising slogans in support of “judicial martial law” and “accountability” before the general elections have no programme for the development of the country and resolving the issues faced by the masses.
He said that though PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was expelled from his office, it was difficult to remove his love from the hearts of the general public.
Asif also said that those who think that they could put a stain on the character of PML-N leadership by dragging them in accountability courts were living in a fool’s paradise.
Rather the propaganda of opponents would further increase the credibility of Nawaz Sharif as he had become more popular after being expelled from power by the former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf, he added.
Further, the minister said that the government had completed various development projects linked with the power and human development sectors respectively.
About 1,800 kilometres of motorway had been either completed or work on it was underway across the country, he further stated.
Asif expressed his hope that the masses would vote in favour of PML-N for its outstanding performance in each and every sector, adding that his party also played a vital role in addressing the problems being faced by the general public.
