LONDON: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday stated that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should’ve been allowed to go to London and inquire after the health of his wife Kulsoom Nawaz on humanitarian grounds.

While speaking to media regarding the court’s dismissal of Nawaz’s exemption plea, Sadiq remarked: “There would’ve been no problem if Nawaz was allowed to come here [London].”

“There is nothing wrong with visiting an ailing person”, Sadiq said while referring to Nawaz’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who is currently undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

Ayaz Sadiq further stated that Nawaz Sharif will face everything against him and will never flee the country.

“He [Nawaz] has continued to face everything [against him] and will keep doing so in future as well,” the National Assembly (NA) speaker stated.

Similarly on Friday, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the refusal by the accountability court to grant seven days’ exemption from appearance in the court to Nawaz Shairf and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, who wanted to visit ailing Kalsoom Nawaz was a negation of the fundamental human rights.

Marriyum said that on one hand, a dictator who violated the Constitution, was allowed to go out of the country on the pretext of backache and on the other hand three-times elected prime minister and his daughter were not being allowed to visit his wife and mother respectively who was terribly sick, which was a revenge in the name of accountability.
