KP budget: Rs. Three billion earmarked for Irrigation sector

The government of Khyber Pakthunkhwa will start work on construction of dams, preparation of reports, pavement of canal, installation of tube wells and floods protection walls besides improvement in hydrological infrastructure projects in fiscal year 2011-12 for which Rs. Three billion were allocated.
Finance Minister Hamayun Khan said the amount would be spent on 104 subjects including completion of dams in Kohat, Karak, Haripur, Nowshera and Charsadda districts that after completion would irrigate 12,310 acres land in KPK.
Mega projects at Balambut in Dir distruct would be completed that would irrigate 11, 363 acres land. Likewise, 96 tubewells, 11 lift canals and feasibility studies of 38 small dams and designs of six small dams would be completed.
