QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly’s (BA) session on Thursday was adjourned till Saturday without transacting any business.
When the house assembled, the lack of quorum was pointed out. Bells were rung for five minutes but when the quorum could not be completed, the session was adjourned for 15 minutes.
When the house assembled again, the strength of the members was 13. The session was again adjourned till 3 pm on Saturday under Rule 195 (2) of Balochistan Provincial Assembly Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, 1974.
While addressing a joint press conference after the session of the house, Rehmat Baloch, Aslam Bizenjo, Sardar Mustafa Tareen, Dr Hamid Achakzai, Obedullah Babat, Syed Liaqat Agha and Nasrullah Zeray said that the provincial government had lost the confidence of the members and the majority was with the opposition. Completion of quorum in the house was the responsibility of the government but non presence of the treasury members at the sessions was a proof of their lack of interest, they added.
Lawmakers Islam Baloch, Mohtarma Dr Shama Ishaq, Mohtarma Yasmeen Lehri, Mohtarma Spozmai Achakzai, Mohtarma Masooma Hayat, Mohtarma Arifa Siddiq and William Barkat were also present during the press conference.
This was the second consecutive session of the house which was adjourned due to the lack of quorum. Earlier, the house was adjourned on March 20 without transacting any business due to the lack of quorum.
