LAHORE: Daughter of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that former military ruler (R) General Pervez Musharraf did not leave the country in a stable state and is now asking for security for his return.
A local news channel reported that the ruling party’s leader made this remark outside the National Accountability Court in the capital where the family is facing corruption cases.
The former president, who heads the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) as chief, has called for a meeting of party leaders in Dubai on Wednesday with the intention to discuss the government’s offer to provide him ‘foolproof security’ upon his return to Pakistan in order to face a pending high treason trial.
“I honestly don’t know what crime my family has committed and why it is being victimised,” lamented Maryam, adding, “Is it a crime to amass wealth through a fair means?”
The former premiers daughter also said that there was no proof of the allegations against her family during the first six months of proceedings by the anti-graft watchdog.
