Special Judge Banking Offence (Central) Malik Abdul Rashid on Friday fixed today (Saturday) to hear the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam against Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Moonis Elahi.
The court will record arguments on a legal point that whether before framing of charges, the copies of statements given by prosecution witnesses before the magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC, could be delivered to the accused or not. Earlier, an exchange of harsh words was witnessed between the judge and defence council regarding delivery of the said copies. The court observed that if the accused has lost trust on the court then he might carry the case to any other court or file an application for the judge’s transfer. In reply, the accused and his lawyers including Malik Amjad Pervaiz, Rai Bashir Ahmed and Misbahur Rehman expressed their complete trust on the judge.
