RAWALPINDI: Police have arrested a co-worker involved in murdering a journalist over two weeks ago in Rawalpindi, reported a local media outlet.
The 40-year-old Anjum Muneeb Raja was working as a sub-editor at an Urdu newspaper in the Blue Area of Islamabad.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar Division Syed Ali said that an investigative team was formed after the journalist was murdered on March 2. The deceased was returning home on a motorbike when another rider shot him dead at around 11:45 pm.
The investigation team discovered that the deceased’s co-worker and friend, Qaiser Rehman, had a quarrel with him on the same day as the murder. Qaiser Rehman had not been at the office since the murder and his phone was also switched off.
The police arrested him at this house on Adiala Road. Qaiser confessed to the murder, and the weapon was recovered, said the police.
